Windows XP Support: Microsoft ended support for Windows XP on April 8, 2014. Current versions of the Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015-2022 only support Windows Vista, 7, 8.1, 10, and 11. The last version of the Visual C++ Redistributable that works on Windows XP shipped in Visual Studio 2019 version 16.7 (file versions starting with 14.27). yesterday i download Visual studio 2012 professional from MSDN web site and i install it inside windows server 2012 R2 64-bit. but i have noted that the visual studio got installed inside this location under "Program Files (x86)":-
second question , if i deploy my web application from visual studio to IIS , then does this mean that the deployed application will be 32-bit,since the VS which i use to deploy it is actually a 32-bit ? or there is not any relation between VS version and the deployed application ?
(Please note: depending on the version of Visual Studio 2012 you have installed, you may not see the same list of command prompt shortcuts. Not all shortcuts are installed with Visual Studio Express versions.)
From the very first versions of Windows, Microsoft created an integrated development environment (IDE) so that programmers could complete their projects for these operating systems. We are talking about Visual Studio. With the imminent launch of Windows 8, they have decided to launch a new version: Visual Studio 2012.
Developed with Windows 8 in mind, Visual Studio 2012 Ultimate includes many of the elements that will appear for the first time in Microsoft's new operating system like .NET Framework 4.5 or the Metro interface.
Visual Studio 2012 includes all the tools necessary to be able to create all kinds of projects for Microsoft operating systems, but furthermore, it's also perfectly capable of creating websites or, even, programs for mobiles and tablets.
Thanks to the elements that are part of Visual Studio 2012 any programmer will have the possibility to complete a full project without any need to resort to other programs or external elements.
The graphical environment of Visual Studio 2012 has undergone a change, being very similar to the Metro graphical interface and the general product line that Microsoft had already marked after launching Microsoft Office 2013 Preview, even though it does maintain the code color identification which so many users demanded after they had originally left it out of the Beta version of the program (called Visual Studio 2011 Beta).
In this blog post you will learn how to install SSIS addon SSIS PowerPack (30+ extra tasks/components) and also how to install SSIS client/server tools. There are various versions of SSIS (Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services) such as SSIS 2008, SSIS 2012 (SQL Server Integration Services), SSIS 2014 (SQL Server Integration Services) and SSIS 2016 (SQL Server Integration Services)
Starting from SSIS 2012 Microsoft has provided separate Installer which you download freely without going through SQL Server Setup. Consider SSDT BI as Addons for Visual studio which gives you additional project types (e.g. SSIS Project, SSRS Report Projects, SSAS Cube projects).
Latest version of SSDT-BI for Visual Studio 2015 (Preview released in April 2016 ) supports editing SSIS 2016, SSIS 2014 and SSIS 2012 packages. (Supports for Multiple SSIS versions). This is really important feature developer wanted since long time because you can now just use one version of Visual Studio regardless which version of SQL Server environment you target (e.g. SQL 2016, SQL 2014 or SQL 2012).
By default when you open SSIS 2012/2014 or SSIS 2016 project in Visual Studio 2015 (April 2016 Update or Later installed) you will be able to edit SSIS package without any change. But if you want to change Package Version (e.g. Upgrade to Higher version or Downgrade to lower version of SSIS) then you can click on Project properties > Configuration Properties > general and then Change TargetServerVersion as below. Once you change this you will notice in your Project Node version number will be changed. Upgrade process only works if correct UpgradeMapping xml files installed by SSIS setup program or 3rd party vendor. Below is sample paths where Upgrade mapping files are found.
To design packages for SSIS 2012 (SQL Server 2012) you have two options. You can use SSDT BI for Visual Studio 2012/2015 or use SQL Server Data Tools (VS 2010 Shell installed via SQL Server 2012 Setup)
I'm having a problem with installing Visual Studio 2012 Premium (Professional and Ultimate too) under 64-bit Windows 8 Pro. When the 'acquiring' bar goes to 'Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 Devenv' I get an error.
Try running the installer as Administrator. If it does not help delete Visual Studio from Program and Features and run CCleaner, then try and install Visual Studio 2012 again with Administrator rights. But before you do anything try and install all the Windows 8 Updates (Control Panel -> Windows Updates -> Check Updates).
Measurement Studio 2013 includes separate, parallel sets of class libraries, integration features, and support documentation for developing with Visual Studio 2012, Visual Studio 2010, and Visual Studio 2008. This readme documents only Measurement Studio support for Visual Studio 2012. Measurement Studio support for other versions of Visual Studio includes separate readme files; refer to these respective readme files or the Measurement Studio Release Notes for more information about Measurement Studio support for other versions of Visual Studio.
For information on the new features and functionality that have been introduced in Measurement Studio since version 2012, refer to the What's New in Measurement Studio 2013 topic in the installed NI Measurement Studio Help.
For general license activation information, refer to ni.com/activate. Refer to ni.com/mstudio to purchase a Measurement Studio license. Contact a local National Instruments representative at www.ni.com/contact for more information or for questions about specific licensing needs.
You can use the Manage Content tab within the Help Viewer to uninstall or reinstall the Measurement Studio 2013 help. The help manifest files (.msha files) for the Measurement Studio 2013 help are located in the \MeasurementStudioVS2012\Help directory, where refers to the directory where you installed Measurement Studio.
You can have only one version of Measurement Studio installed on a system for each version of Visual Studio or the Microsoft .NET Framework installed on the system. For example, you can have Measurement Studio 2013 for Visual Studio 2010 installed on the same system as Measurement Studio 2012 for Visual Studio 2008, but you cannot have Measurement Studio 2013 for Visual Studio 2010 installed on the same system as Measurement Studio 2012 for Visual Studio 2010.
Visual Studio 2012 does not support Microsoft Setup Projects for deployment. You can use the following information to help you create an installer for your application in Visual Studio 2012. For more information on creating an installer with Measurement Studio support for Visual Studio 2012, refer to the Deploying Measurement Studio Applications topic in the installed NI Measurement Studio Help. Additionally, you can use the Deployment example application for a sample project you can modify and use to deploy your project. Refer to the Where to Find Examples topic in the installed NI Measurement Studio Help to determine where example projects are installed on your machine.
Refer to ni.com/mstudio/legacysupport for additional information about Measurement Studio legacy support, including installation and configuration information, or contact a Technical Sales Representative at ni.com/contact.
Your database projects should work fine after installing the above updates. One last thing worth mentioning is that I currently am on Visual Studio 2012 Update 1 and also that the December 2012 update is the latest one available at this time.
Microsoft Visual Studio is an integrated development environment from Microsoft. It is used to develop computer programs, as well as websites, web apps, web services and mobile apps 2012 Professional Edition
