What is Tahaan Movie?
Tahaan is a 2008 Indian film that tells the story of an eight-year-old boy who lives in conflict-torn Kashmir. His life revolves around his pet donkey, Birbal, who is taken away by a moneylender. Plot Summary
Tahaan lives with his mother, grandfather, and sister in a village near Srinagar. His father has been missing for three years, presumed to be dead by the army. Tahaan loves his donkey, Birbal, who helps him carry firewood and milk. However, his family is in debt to a local moneylender, who seizes Birbal as collateral. Tahaan tries to earn enough money to buy back his donkey, but fails.
He learns that Birbal has been sold to an old man named Subhan Dar, who lives across the mountains. Tahaan decides to follow Subhan and his assistant Zafar, who lead a mule train carrying goods. Along the way, he meets Idrees, a teenage militant who offers him a deal. He gives Tahaan a grenade and asks him to deliver it to a target in exchange for Birbal. Tahaan agrees, unaware of the consequences.
Tahaan reaches Subhan's village and befriends his nephew, who also likes Birbal. He challenges Zafar to a race with Birbal and wins, but Subhan refuses to give him back his donkey. Instead, he gives him a pair of sunglasses. Tahaan is disappointed and angry. He decides to go ahead with Idrees' plan and throws the grenade at a military checkpoint. However, he changes his mind at the last moment and tosses it into a river. He then sees his father emerge from the building he almost blew up. He runs towards him and hugs him.
Subhan's nephew convinces Subhan to let Tahaan have Birbal back. Tahaan returns home with his father and his donkey, happy and relieved.
